Dissonance refers to suicide loss grief process where in grieving opens with conflict among what is felt, believed, and heard; expectations about life are rocked; healing is encouraged, but there is no leverage and lack of knowledge about suicide leads to seeking information.
Other definition:
Dissonance refers to most widely known of the consistency theories which hold that people prefer to avoid tension or stress-producing situations by maintaining consonance. As a result, individuals tend to avoid paying attention to or retaining information which conflicts with their belief system
