Target hardening refers to the reduction in criminal opportunity, generally through the use of physical barriers, architectural design, and enhanced security measures, of a particula r location.

Target hardening is a crime-prevention technique that seeks to make it more difficult to commit a given offense, by better protecting the threatened object or person.
