Advanced empathic responses a term which is used in which after becoming proficient at conversational empathic responses, clinicians are encouraged to make these kinds of responses which often bring about deeper levels of understanding for the client. They include the use of analogies, metaphors, visual images, and the pointing out of contrasting feelings.
