Base-rate fallacy refers to the failure to consider the likelihood that a person, place or thing is a member of a particular category - some categories are simply larger than others.
With other words: Base rate fallacy refers to the tendency to ignore or under-use base rate information and instead to be influenced by the distinctive features of the case being judged.
