Empathy-altruism hypothesis
Empathy-altruism hypothesis refers to the idea that when we feel Empathy for a person, we will attempt to help him or her purely for altruistic reasons - that is, regardless of what we have to gain.

Empathy-altruism hypothesis is likewsie the proposition that empathy motivates people to reduce other people"s distress, as by helping or comforting.
