Serotonin
Serotonin refers to a neurotransmitter that affects how alert one is. Likewise , it ia a hormone produced by the human body that modulates mood, emotion, sleep and appetite.

Serotonin refers to a Neurotransmitter that is:

(1) involved in processing of information and coordination of movement, as well as inhibition and restraint.

(2) involved in sleep, mood disorders such as depression, memory, and other neurologic processes.

(3) involved in the regulation of mood and impulsive responses

Serotonin also assists in the regulation of eating, sexual, and aggressive behaviors, all of which may be involved in different psychological disorders. Its interaction with dopamine is implicated in schizophrenia.

Low levels of Serotonin are claimed to be found in patients with major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder.
