Sociodramatic Play
Sociodramatic Play refers to play involving acting out scripts, scenes, and plays adopted from cartoons, books. Children take/assume roles using themselves and/or characters like dolls, figures, and puppets as they interact together on common themes. A faciliator may assist ideas for characters, settings or props and use the children's ideas for a story. Typically occurs between 3 - 4 years of age. As a child matures, themes, sequences, plans, problem solving, characters and so forth become more rich and they begin to organize other children for role play with independence (around 5 years of age).
