Osteoarthritis is a form of Arthritis that results when the articular cartilage begins to crack or wear away because of overuse of a particular joint; may also result from injury or other causes; often affects the weight-bearing joints and is common among athletes and the elderly.

Moreover, it is defined as the progressive inflammation of the joints; a disease marked by gradual onset of bone damage underneath the cartilage leading to pain and disability as well as minor signs of inflammation
