Adverse event
Adverse event refers to any undesirable experience associated with the use of a medical product in a patient. The event is serious and should be reported when the patient outcome is death or is life-threatening; results in hospitalization, disability, or congenital anomaly; or requires intervention to prevent permanent impairment or damage.
This definition is according to the United States Food and Drug Administration.
