Communicative competence refers to the skill associated with using a language appropriately and effectively in various social situations.
It is the mastery of five (5) aspects of language:
- semantics,
- syntax,
- morphology,
- phonology, and
- pragmatics.
Moreover, it is the ability to use all the aspects of language in one's culture, such as systems of meaning, rules of sentence formation, and adjustments for the social setting.
