Neuritic plaques refers to structural change in the brain produced when damaged and dying neurons collect around a core of protein. Neuritic plaques is a normative change in the brain involving amyloid protein collecting on dying or dead neurons. Large numbers of Neuritic plaques is a defining characteristic of Alzheimer's disease.
