Grooming

Grooming is the term refers to the process by which child sex offenders/abusers ensnare their victims by befriending them. The abuser will usually pretend to share a common interest with the child or offer them support and advice before persuading them to meet one-to-one. When using the internet for Grooming, the offenders also usually pretend to be children, too. Following a number of cases where Pedophiles have used internet chatrooms or email to befriend children in order to abuse them, public awareness of "Grooming" has grown.

Gross efficiency

Gross efficiency is defined as a simple measure of exercise efficiency defined as the ratio of work performed to energy expended, expressed as a percent (%).

Gross motor skills

Gross motor skills refer to skills which employs the large muscles used in locomotion.

Ground

Ground refers to the background that contrasts with the figure in the perceptions of a field. In object perception, the background is called the Ground. In metaphor, Ground refers to the implied similarity between tenor and vehicle. Please see also Figure.

Ground of existence

Ground of existence refers to Binswanger's term for the circumstances into which a person is thrown and according to which he or she must make choices. Ground of existence is also called Facticity. Please see also Thrownness.

Grounded theory

Grounded theory is a term that refers to an inductive approach to the study of social life that attempts to generate a theory from the constant comparing of unfolding observations. Grounded theory is very different from hypothesis testing, in which theory is used to generate hypotheses to be tested through observations.
