- Institutional animal care and use committee (IACUC) : Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) refers to a committee that oversees the protection of animal subjects in nearly every United States institution that conducts research. Moreover, IACUC is a committee that examines all proposed research with respect to its treatment of non-human subjects (animals). IACUC approval must be obtained prior to conducting any research with nonhuman subjects.
