Night terror is defined as a state of panic during NREM sleep. An experience of intense anxiety during sleep from which a person awakens screaming in terror.

 

Night terrors or Sleep terrors, represent a sudden partial arousal (Parasomnia) associated with disorientation, emotional outburst, and usually the appearance of fear, motor activity, example, walking, running in sleep, and profound autonomic discharge, as in flushing, sweating, tachycardia. Night terrors classically occur in the first half of the night during deep Non-rapid eye movement (Non-REM/NREM) sleep.
