Coarticulation

Coarticulation is the overlapping articulation that occurs when different phonemes follow one another in speech. Because of these effects, the same phoneme can be articulated differently depending on the context in which it appears. For example, articulation of the "B" in word boot is different from articulation of the "B" in the word Boat. Coarticulation, moreover, is the process of articulating more than one speech sound at a time. It occurs when phonemes or other units are produced in a way that overlaps them in time
