Glossary D

Diaphragm

Diaphragm refers to the major respiratory muscle responsible for inspiration. Diaphragm is dome-shaped muscle that separates the thoracic cavity from the abdominal cavity; the partition separating the cavity of the chest from that of the abdomen.
