Pituitary Gland

Pituitary Gland refers to the major Endocrine gland that lies partly on the outgrowth of the brain and just below the hypothalamus; produces the largest number of different hormones and controls the secretions of other endocrine glands; a gland located at the base of and controlled by the brain that secretes the hormones responsible for growth and organ development. Moreover, Pituitary Gland is a a "master gland" located at the base of the brain that regulates the endocrine glands and produces growth hormone.

Pituitary stalk

Pituitary stalk which is also known as the Infundibular stalk refers to the axon bundle extending from the hypothalamus to the posterior region of the pituitary. This connection mediates the release of oxytocin and antidiuretic hormone directly into the bloodstream.

Pituitary Tumors

Pituitary Tumors refer to tumors that arise from the Pituitary Gland. It is traditional to divide pituitary tumors into functioning and non-functioning Adenomas.

Place theory of Hearing is the proposal that the frequency of a sound is indicated by the place along the organ of Corti at which nerve firing is highest. Modern Place Theory is based on Békésy’s traveling wave Theory of Hearing.
