Cultural-familial retardation refers to substandard intellectual performance that is presumed to stem from lack of opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills considered important within a cultural setting.

cultural–familial group refers to mental retardation in which there is no evidence of organic brain damage (usually associated with mild MR).

cultural–familial mental retardation refers to a mild form of mental retardation that may be caused largely by environmental influences.

Culture is defined as an on-going pattern of life, characterizing a society at a given point in history; the enduring behaviors, ideas, attitudes, behaviors, artifacts, and traditions which characterize a group of people or shared by a large group of people and transmitted from one generation to the next.

- Culture conflict : Culture conflict refers a sociological perspective on crime which suggests that the root cause of criminality can be found in a clash of values between variously socialized groups over what is acceptable or proper behavior.
