Manic episode

manic episode refers to period of abnormally elevated or irritable mood that may include inflated self -esteem, decreased need for sleep, pressured speech, flight of ideas, agitation, or self-destructive behavior.

Manic-Depression

A Manic-Depression consists of alternating moods of abnormal highs (mania) and lows (depression). Called bipolar disease because of the swings between these opposing poles in mood.
