Postpartum blues refers to a temporary and non-pathological state of emotional disturbance characterized by sadness and general dysphoria following childbirth.
Postpartum blues is also known as Baby blues.
Postpartum depression or PPD refers to a woman’s clinical depression that occurs after childbirth which is mild to moderately severe depression that begins within three (3) months following childbirth. Postpartum depression is characterized by the mother’s severe depression, apathy, thoughts of harming the newborn and/or herself, delusions, strong feelings of sadness, resentment, and despair that may appear shortly after childbirth and can linger for months. Postpartum depression is a serious psychiatric condition requiring clinical intervention.
Postpartum period refers to the period that immediately follows childbirth.
Postpartum Psychosis refers to the rare occurrence of severe, debilitating depression or Psychotic symptoms in the mother after childbirth or after giving birth.
Postpsychotic depressive disorder refers to a major depressive episode that is superimposed on and occurs during the residual phase of schizophrenia.
Posttest is a term in Industrial and Organizational Psychology that is defined as a measure of job performance or knowledge taken after a training program has been completed.
Posttest-only design with non-equivalent groups refers to a nonexperimental design in which one group is exposed to one level of an independent variable and a second group chosen using a different selection mechanism is exposed to a second level.
