Typo is the short form of typographical error and denotes a deviation from the intended written word that arises during typing or typesetting. In cognitive psychology, the typo is a classic example of a slip: the writer knows the intended word, yet the executed action produces something else. The error therefore lies not in knowledge but in the control of a highly practised movement. Because typing is usually automatic and fast, such errors occur regularly even among experienced writers, and they follow patterns that are psychologically revealing.
